"Curious Nature" by Parson Gray

"Curious Nature" is the first collection of fabric from Parson Gray - the brand guise of artist David Butler (husband of fabric designer Amy Butler).

The collection is a folk modern interpretation of natural elements. It weaves together a balance of sophisticated hand-drawn patterns inspired by Japanese indigo and mid-century fine art. The palette is grounded in richly muted nature tones evoking clear night skies, deep forest and dark ocean balanced by bone ivory and oyster grays.

Parson Gray's "Curious Nature" is being interpreted to fabric by Free Spirit in both quilting/fashion and larger prints on Home Decor weight cotton sateen.

Here's what Renee has to say about her newest collection to arrive in the shop:
"Bella Bliss is a color dream come true...the large scale floral 'mother' of the group was reproduced from a beautiful antique piece of red French bark cloth."

I was so glad to get to see Renee at the retreat this weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks; little did I know that when I saw a stack of "Bella Bliss" it would arrive at the shop today! Now we'll get to see what wonderful things you will create from it!

Here's the designer's description of this line --
"After spending many summers in France looking for the perfect French red, I finally found a collection of old prints that represented what rural life looked like in the 18th and 19th centuries. Based on our first collection of 'Rouenneries,' this group of lovely prints is inspired by the red florals that were printed in Rouenneries, France, in the 18th Century. Old French red, faded cranberry and natural linen colors all make up a collection that is a perfect combination to create a French-inspired quilt."

New Classes for the New Year!

We've added lots of new classes and clubs to the website for your enjoyment in the New Year! Machine and hand techniques both, knitting classes to be held in our NEW location right around the corner!

That's right, we've moved all the Yarn to 116 South First Street (the Poor Richard's Building) and will be expanding that inventory to feature the finest yarns we can find. All our knitting and crochet classes and clubs will meet there.

We've been having lots of fun making "Jelly Roll" Quilts -- Toni will be teaching this easy quilt (perfect for beginners, as the strips are already cut, you just start sewing) tomorrow, Saturday, January 14 from 9:30 to 2:30. We have a wonderful assortment of jelly rolls to choose from -- you will love making this for you or a friend!

Then on Sunday Danielle will begin her first session of Beginning Knitting at RL2 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. This will be a great way to celebrate our new second location. We'll also have a Grand Opening for RL2 on Monday, January 16 with resumption of "Knit Nite" -- every Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm (free to those who purchase supplies from us).

We'll feature more clubs and classes in the future!

Cozy Fun with Fleece & Flannel!

We love using flannel in ragtime quilts -- and here's a quick way to make a fleece throw:

Use 2 yards of fleece for the front and 2 yards for the back
Trim fleece pieces to exactly the same size
Cut a 4" square from each corner
Every 1" along the sides, cut 4" into the fabric
Tie knots in every other "fringe" all the way around
Flip and tie the other fringes.

Kathy's Cowl -- with Berroco Link Yarn!

Kathie, one of Berroco's most versatile employees, was recently experimenting with new ways to use Berroco Link™, our jumbo-sized multicolored wool blend. She ended up creating an adorable cowl that requires no special skill other than tying a few knots. It's a perfect last-minute gift idea, and a great project for children. Since there's enough yarn in a hank to make two cowls, it's also economical. For two cowls, all you'll need is one hank of Link and about 36" of scrap yarn in a matching color.

Here's how to make your own version of Kathie's Cowl:

1. Wrap Link 9 or 10 times around two stationary objects placed approx. 28"–32" apart (such as the arms of a chair, or someone's hands). Cut the yarn and knot the ends together, without removing it.
2. Cut two 9" pieces of scrap yarn. Tie one piece around all strands of Link in same place as the knot. Tie the second piece around all strands of Link at the opposite end of the cowl.
3. To wear, place the cowl around your neck with one tie in the back. Loop the front half around your neck again, so that both ties are at the back.

Jo's Little Women Club

We're in the next to the last month of our current Jo's Little Women Club. Part 10 had eight projects -- different sizes but all small quilts made in Jo Morton's fabric for Andover Fabrics. Our online club sends a pattern each month to members, and a fabric kit is available for optional purchase.

The next group of small quilt designs will be Part 11. These patterns are available only to club members and are designed by Jo specifically for the club. We will begin Club 11 in February of 2012.

"Saturday Sampler" Update!

We're having a great time with our "Saturday Sampler" friends -- on Saturdays and Thursday evenings.

October will bring the 10th month of blocks -- make sure you attend and see the completed quilt top! I hope you're all keeping up and will be ready to assemble your quilt in December. We'll have kits available with finishing fabrics -- accent border and outer border -- or you may choose your own fabrics. The blocks all fit together (no sashing will be needed) so when the 12 blocks are done all you need to do is add the borders.

Just in case you haven't made Block 8 yet -- here is a picture of it (It was left out of the kits).

A Lot Going On!

Dear Friends Who Love Fabric and Fiber --
This last month has been busy! We are excited to now be the home of LibertyQuiltShop.com. We share a love of Jo Morton fabrics and will be offering more opportunities to use her designs!

Beginning tomorrow, September 15, through Saturday, September 17, we are participating in the annual fall Mo-Ark Quilt Shop Hop. This will be a fun event -- come in and start your hop with us or one of the other participating shops! More information is available on the front page of the website.

Friday night is "3rd Friday Twilight Walk" in downtown Rogers. We will have a young guest, Molly Hargus, demonstrating zipper jewelry. She will be here from 5:30 to 7:00.

On Saturday, the "Quilting a Memory" exhibit opens. This exhibit runs for two months, giving you a chance to plan a trip to see us and the quilt exhibit too!

In connection with the quilt exhibit, we are hosting the "Red, White and Sometimes Blue" challenge. Be sure and pick up the guidelines when you're in the shop, or read about it in the "About Us" section of the website. Deadline for submitting items is October 15.

Pillowcases on The Altar

The Rabbit's Lair is thrilled to help The Sewing Bee with donations of fabric for their projects! Here is a brief description of what they do:

The Sewing Bee is an annual project at First United Methodist Church in Historic Downtown Rogers. It is sponsored (organized!) by Boomerang Joy Circle at the church. Over the years we have made school bags for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (to go all over the world), chemo caps for area cancer support homes, pillowcases and travel pillows for Arkansas Children's Hospital and NWA Children's Shelter, Christmas stockings for St. Mary's Hospital. This year our projects were the quilts or throws for the chemo room at Highlands Oncology and full-size pillowcases for NWA Children's Shelter, Ronald McDonald program at St. Edwards Hospital in Ft. Smith, and Circle of Life Hospice. We were also able to complete 5 additional fleece blankets for the Linus Project that gives blankets to area children.

Happy Fourth of July!

Time flies -- here it is July already! We will be closed on Sunday and Monday for the holiday. I hope everyone enjoys celebrating our many freedoms and remembering our troops that sacrifice so much for us.

We are busy getting ready for our "Quilts of Valor" auction at the shop on Friday evening, July 15. Since many of our friends may not be able to come, we will accept prebids on items -- we'll start posting some of them on the website and featuring them in our email newsletters right after the holiday.

If you are unfamiliar with the "Quilts of Valor" program, you can find out all about it on www.qovf.org. Their mission is to provide quilts to men and women who have been injured or touched by the wars. To date, they have given out over 40,000 quilts.

This year, we have been hosting workshops to make quilts for the soldiers, and making available kits with patriotic fabrics. Several fabric companies have designed beautiful collections for us, with proceeds from the sale of the fabric to benefit Quilts of Valor.

Shown is one of the quilts that will be in the auction, donated by Jo Morton. She is a well-known quilt and fabric designer, and this quilt is made entirely with her fabrics from Andover Fabrics. We have enjoyed using her "American Valor" collection in making quilts for the soldiers in our workshops.

Quilts for Joplin

Tomorrow - Friday, May 27 - we will begin our efforts in creating quilts of care for Joplin residents whose lives have been turned upside down by the tornado.

We know their recovery will be a long process, and it will be sometime before they will be able to accept our gifts of caring. Right now, the basic necessities of life are what they need. But by working on quilts now we can work toward being ready for when they can accept them.

We'll have kits available in fabrics that will make the young set smile -- "Dino" and "Dots & Daisies" -- or bring your own fabrics!

If you can't make it tomorrow, we've set some other Friday dates -- June 3 and 17, July 1 and 8.

Twilight Walk -- David Moran Trunk Show

Tomorrow - Friday, May 20 -- is the first night of the Downtown Rogers 3rd Friday Twilight Walks of the season!

Our staff member, David Moran, will be here sharing his work. Although he has been quilting only a few years, he is very prolific, creative and talented! You will enjoy meeting him and getting to know more about him. Shown is his "Modern Art with Fabric" quilt. He will be conducting a workshop for this fun and easy quilt on Saturday, July 23 from 10 to 3.

We're hoping for good weather for all those who come out for "Twilight Walk" -- we'll also have some specials in the shop from 4:00 to 8:00 only!

Online Jo's Little Women Club 10

We're getting ready to start our Online Jo's Little Women Club, Part 10. We've had 2 groups meeting in the shop, but we know that some of you don't have a local shop that offers this wonderful program for using Jo Morton fabrics in her designs.

The club will run from March through November this year, making 8 small quilts. Each month you receive a pattern in the mail, along with a newsletter all about Jo and her designs -- find out more about it on the website -- Jo's Little Women Club 10 Online.

Old Quilt Pillows

Sisters-in-Law Madeline and Dorothy had SEW much fun making these darling little pillows from an old cutter quilt. We showed them how to hand applique, and they embellished them with ribbons and buttons.

We also talked about how Dorothy could salvage a family quilt and make heirloom items for her family. If at all possible, quilts should be preserved, but sometimes they are in such bad shape that it makes more sense to use the parts of the quilt that are in good shape. Blocks can be framed, made into pillows or small quilts for display. Even small parts of a quilt may be used to make pincushions for your favorite sewer. The important thing is to value the work of the quilter and create an appreciation for the work they did. Sometimes the best way to do that is to share it in smaller items with those who remember the quilter.

Vintage Notions Gatherings

At the first meeting of our Vintage Notions Gathering, Shana and friends covered a notebook. This past week, she shared with them how to make a small purse and flower from a "recycled" tie. What a great idea for using those family leftovers -- how about one for everyone on your gift list?

This group is based on Amy Barickman's book, "Vintage Notions." To find out more about it, visit Amy's website, www.amybarickman.com. Each month they have a fun and quick project, information about the influence of sewing in the lives of women, and good fun.

It may not really be Spring, but it sure feels like it this week! We'll take it and enjoy! We wanted to wish all our friends Happy Valentine's Day -- enjoy it doing something fun. Stitching would be our choice. Here's a great free design from Bird Brain Designs; you can download and print it from their website, www.birdbraindesigns.net. Make it especially easy by using Transer-Eze, just copy the design from your computer and press on your fabric. When you're done, it dissolves in cold water!

New Block of the Month!

I'm starting on a new block of the month! I've always loved the "Baltimore Bunnies" quilt by Bunny Hill Designs -- and a fat quarter bundle of "Lilac Hill" by Brannock & Patek got me going! I'm fusing my applique and then will stitch it down, but you can use your favorite technique. This is a great project to start in January, and I'll keep you updated each month on the challenges and rewards of my journey!

Braided Rug Class with Helen Jeffrey is this Friday and Saturday, October 29 & 30!
Helen Jeffrey of Ozark, Missouri, will be here to share her love of wool and braided rugs!
Braiding is a wonderful way to finish and frame your hooked rugs, chair mats, table runners, bench mats, stair treads and gifts. In this retreat you will learn braiding, butting (joining the ends of the braids) and lacing (attaching braid). If you have preconceptions that this technique is complicated or requires too many tools and equipment, Helen’s technique is simple, inexpensive and it eliminates tools and equipment. The class cost includes the wool you need to make your own rug. There are a few places left, so call the shop to sign up now!

Finishing things!

It has been so long since I finished anything I am not sure if I can stand it! I am having a hard time taking care of my office work! I saw this great rug at Elizabeth's doctors office and I told David about it, so it cut the fabrics (so that is why it is color cordinated) and I had a blast piecing, quilting and binding it! And then I got to give it to Elizabeth and she has carried it with her for 2 days!

As I am taking Beginning Sewing, Knitting and Crocheting I am over whelmed with all the projects I want to do! In discussing this issue with my friend Andria she made me realize that I needed to have a night a month (at least one for now) to hang out with fun girls and get some things done that I want to do!!! So, we are introducing the Groovy Girls Sewing Club! It is for any type of fabric or fiber art that you might want to do! All the info is on our website now!

A Wild Week of Traveling with Clarice (mama bear)

Things to remember to take on a road trip! Your camera - check --- whoops forgot the memory card - left it in the computer!

This is a fun new pattern we are working on!

Hello! Clarice and I just returned from our adventures in Kansas ans Missouri and we had a great time! We went from one extreme to another in teachers and shops! Yes, I am going to tell you!

This is some super fun yarn I found at The Studio!

We begin our trip by going by The Studio in Kansas City! What an awesome yarn and needle point shop! It was my first experience in a real knitting shop since we have begun to carry yard! Wow! So many colors, weights, textures!! And of course I had to purchase some and yes, I actually knitted some up!! You can contact The Studio at http://www.thestudiokc.com/!

We then stopped by my brothers house (Hotel Moore!) and had a great dinner, played with the little girls and off to Jo Morton Trunk Show! This was my first time to see Jo in person and hear her lecture! Wow! She has a lot of small quilts! Wow! And and another Wow! It was awesome to hear why she washes her fabric! (and not just because she has Asama!) because when you iron it and use steam it will not affect it as much! I found her to be very precise in all that she does and very little is by the seat of her pants! I found out what a great book she writes, it really is well written on how to do the detailed items... i.e. which way to iron the seams, how to make a nice seam, how to applique! Now, did Clarice and I get our quilt top done? Or did we get a block done? Neither! By the time we practiced our back basting applique and worked to put together a block and of course spent time at the Prairie Point shop .... our block is in the Coming Home! and it is not finished! I think what I liked best about Jo's teaching style is she is very kind and very passionate about the fact that there is room enough for all quilters. We all have choices, and even if we do not do it her way, it is OK!!

This is what Clarice and I attempted to make! And there was one lady who was well on her way to sashing it when the class was over!!

That night after our class we went to Quilter's Station in Lee Summit for the Primitives Trunk Show! We were thoroughly entertained by Jennifer Keltner from American Patchwork and all the other publications she is in charge of! Besides being very funny, she is full of great tips! We also got to see allot of the quilts that will be coming in the future issues of the magazines! You will want to check out this month's magazine and see what you can do with a bun warmer!

We took a class with Renee Plains of Liberty Star which you see that I am teaching in September! I have attached a picture of what we made, ours will be the same technique but with a different design on the front! It is a sweet sweet keeping journal! We all the supplies on order and will be making our sample for you to see soon!

Our last class at Primitives was with Maggie Bonanomi! Now this is where I know I have been to one extreme of teachers to the other extreme. Jo Morton is completely organized and even knows where her needles are and has them all prepared for each student! Maggie is much more like myself and is still working through the details and I believe her moto is "just make it work!" If you have not had the opportunity to take a class with Maggie and you want to learn wool applique the primitive way she is the girl! Her newest book is due to arrive this week!

After Maggie's class we went to Lawrence to visit The Yarn Barn and Sarah's Fabric Shop! I am still really confused about Lawrence, I lived there for 2 or so years, but I have no memory of anything I saw... I got spinal minajetis while I was there and I know I lost many chucks of memory of my life, but wow! to loose a whole town!! So, now I will remember The Yarn Barn and Sara's! Again it was a visit from one extreme shop to the other! Sarah's carries well over 9,000 bolts of fabric and it is organized, but it is not neat at all! It is just there... when you go to Quilter's Station with over 9,000 bolts of fabric, it is organized and extremely neat!! I loved Sarah's because she had so many of the oldies but goodies! We also picked up some of Amy Butler's Quilted Fabric, Kaffe Fassett's Rayon and some of Amy's decorator weight fabric! We are excited to begin making samples and getting these fabrics in! We want to know what you think of them also!

This is the Rayon from Kaffe! I got enough to make a skirt for myself and we have it on order for you!!

I cant believe we are moving in less than 82 hours! Are we ready? Well, we are getting there! And I must say the staff is handling it all very well, considering I change the to do list every day!

June? How did 1/2 the year pass and I am still not organized?

Dear Friends of Fabric and Fiber!

Well, new fabric is still arriving daily and I am not sure we will be able to keep all in the safe until we move our shop in July!! The Christmas fabrics and Halloween fabrics are here or on their way... New fabrics are coming from market! Clarice purchased some new yarns last week!

Blocks of the Month --- we are at just one spot left for Christmas Memories and 2 spots left for Warm Hearts --- so, if this is something you are interested in.... please let us know!

Status of the move?

At this point we think we can take the majority of what we carry today except for the flannel --- we still have a good supply on hand if you want to take advantage of 25% OFF!

We are working on what are the best patterns, books, notions and what nots to carry!

And of course we want to carry as much fabric as possible!!!!

So, the move is making me clean out little holes in my office, closets....... It means we will have to have a garage sale in July..... so hear is the best kept secret! July 15th we will have a large sale at our current address of everything that does make the move! 9 to 4 (no early sales!) and no, of course I do not know what will be left!! As charming as the bank building is, it has one thing we cant change - it has a small class room! Where we are going to move to the Stroud's building - 114 W. Walnut! The owner of that building is redoing it, and it has a great training area and great light! Our current plans are to move the first part of July!!

Mom and I are excited about this opportunity and we look forward to making a great shop for all our customers! We will be choosing paint colors this week and begin working on repairing and painting our current fixtures!

Customers are so amazing!

What a wild snow storm! 6" to 12" in most places on Sunday and completely gone today!! Wow! Only God can do that!!

I am so amazed how wonderful our customers are! One of our customers (her name is Dale, but don't tell her I am talking about her!) had asked for me to take a picture of Kay's newest creation "Christmas Memories" by Blackbird Designs.... Me? Get something done in a timely manner? No Way! So, I asked her to remind me if I did not do it! She did! Now how awesome is that!! Here some photo's of it! It will begin April 15th! Yes, we are celebrating that day! No need to be sad, it will happen again next year!!

I know when people come in and give us positive feedback, I give my honest answer of great employees, talented sample makers, and a great building... BUT, I need to say AWESOME customers!! Wow!

We have another customer very similar to Dale, yes this one has a boys name also! Michael! She is great to read our newsletters, listen to the radio station, and let me know when I made errors --- and she is really really nice about it!

So, from now on --- I have to say our customers is really what makes this shop awesome!

I am amazed on a daily basis how much there is to do in running a quilt shop and how fast the time flies by! That has it's cons and pros! The pros are the customers and new fabrics coming quickly!

Moda is back and we are excited about it! Verna came in yesterday and is going very quickly! Darlene is hiding all the scraps because she cant bear to have the happy fabric gone! Garden Party by Blackbird Designs arrived yesterday! It is lovely!!

Inspired by a piece of antique bunting, this group features 2 panel prints, 10 coordinating prints, and 4 colors of ticking (16" wide and 44" wide).

Message from Jo Morton!The "free-to-use" quilt (will probably be called "Celebrate") is currently being machine quilted, then will return to Nebraska for binding and sent to Andover's photographer and to the pattern writer. I'm not sure how long this process will take, but wanted you all to know that we are "working on it."

FYI -- One of the delays in my "free-to-use" patterns is the fact that mine are designed and then sewn by our friend Candy Hargrove. Since they are not created in EQ, we have to wait for fabric to arrive to complete the project for you.

In the meantime, if you want some ideas -- go to my blog (use the link in my signature below to access it) -- read my December 30th entry. There is a picture of the antique bunting and how the group came together, plus why I wanted two different widths of the ticking stripe. Happy 2010 to you and yours!

Kay cleaned out one of her closets, so lots of fun fat quarters are being cut!! We are also creating a fat eighth area for the appliquers of the world! It has been wonderful to touch and feel the fabrics! I got to cut some yesterday from a project we did a year ago from 3 Sisters of Moda....oh...to touch these lovely pastels!

And as usual in my ADD --- I have decided ADD means Adding Duties Disorder! I start a project which means I see things that lead me to other idea (ok, another word for project!) and then I have the entire shop trashed and no energy to put it back together! Besides the computer project I had to work on these past 2 days...here is what else I have gotten into!

Linen! I love it! I want to make something out of it, wool and cotton...but I am not there yet --- so it is time to let the world know we need to sell it! We have a beautiful selection of cross stitch linen that is on sale for 50% off! We will cut you any size you need! Cutting this fat eights made us realize we need to plan our Super Bowl Sale! We are going to see a 10 cent increase and more in most of our fabrics, so before we go up we must have a fun event for you! We are doing Super Bowl on Saturday the 16th (yes we know we are off 2 weeks!)! We will have Darlene teaching binding techniques, Amanda teaching how to make a cooooool wool flower pin! And our fat quarters will be on sale for $2.25 and when you purchase 3 you get 1 free! So, you could think of it as a sale on fabric at $6.75 a yard! We will have lots of door prizes and we are ready to spoil each one of you!

Re-doing the ribbon display and seeing what colors we needed!

Working on this great pig quilt! Bev Garside redrew the pigs and made them into razorbacks and has graciously allowed us to put those templates in with this pattern! So, I have been playing in homespun land (which I love and cant find nearly enough of them to satisfy me)! It is a wonderfully fun quilt to try and find the right 20 fat quarters!!

Just when I think it is safe to begin working on the computer system again - Kathleen comes in and starts taking care of one of our wonderful customers! While she is taking care of this customer she starts creating the next girl gang from one of the wonderful Red Wagon Books! By the time Kathleen leaves I have a long list of homespuns that are needed!

Have you met Rheba? If you have not, you are missing one talented lady -- look at this piece! Her first rug hooking class from Kathleen! Now, my first class and all pieces afterwards have not been finished nor were they worthy of finishing! I love it when a beginner makes a better sample then the one we use! If you love wool, this is a great class!

Lynette Anderson's trunk show has arrived and others are coming in! We working with Indygo Junction, Pacific Patchwork, Sue Spargo, and others to have trunk shows come in every other month to inspire you!

January will be a fun month! Beginning Quilting, Sewing, Rug Hooking, Applique.... and so much more all kick off this month again! We are also taking names for Jo's Little Women club! Jo is busy and will only have certain times she can mail us the patterns, so call us and let us know!

Christmas is gone and 2010 is way too close!

You will see by the dates, that I have started and stopped writing just a few too many times this month! I have to admit, I forgot my password and had to have my friend Emily come and help me get back onto our blog! So here I am again!

What is happening in 2010 you ask? Well, let me share with you!!

We are kicking 2010 off with...

A wonderful bag class - the Big or Bitty Bag! It is a rockingly cool bag!

Julie Kiffin will be here to teach back basting applique and hand piecing using Cindy Blackberg's stamps! (and yes, we are working to book Julie all year round!)

Threads that Bind will be here! Yippee! Shawn is a delightful teacher and woman! February 16th & 17th!

Janice Johnson of Wooly Woolens will be here March 11- 13th for a 3 day Rug Hooking Camp!

We are working with Helen Jeffery to come in April and teach how to braid rugs! Oh, I cant wait!

And Lynette Anderson will be here May 14th and 15th! She is an Australian designer, we will be the first to have her in the US! She will be on her way to Spring Market, so we will get to see and learn on her new patterns before anyone else!

Update on The Gathering event in 2010, we have had an incredible response from the teachers, it has been very humbling! In fact, it really made us realized we had better let the world know we exist! We are going to hold off on The Gathering for 2010 and spend our time and dollars on advertising the shop and make sure that in 2011 we are ready to go for it!

December 25th!

Wow! Christmas is here! And it is a white Christmas here in NWA! My daughter has been up most of the last 2 nights asking me if it is time! This is her first year of really understanding that Santa brings gift for good girls and boys! She woke me up at 1:30 to ask if she could see if Santa had been here, I said yes and there were loud thumbs down the stairs and then a squeal of joy! To my surprise Bill had just finished getting it all under the tree!! (you can see how soundly I sleep!!)

The past couple of weeks I have gotten to ask many customers what their traditions are and have learned so much about so many of you! We do not have our own traditions set in our family! I tend to plan it by ear, find out who is going to be in town, who is in need of a home to come too,.... but we do keep one tradition at this point! I have not cooked! This year we ordered from my friend Don DeSpain and are planning on feeding my dad and Linda, and whoever comes by!

I know you are suppose to get wiser as you get older, but I am wondering when my wise-ness will come? What a great year this has been, but what a hard year this has been! Being in the fabric business is much harder than is appears from the outside!! I am kicking off 2010 by giving the program at Pieces and Patches (a local guild here in Rogers) and they asked me to speak on the topic of "behind the scenes of a quilt shop"! Whew, they are about to learn how little I know!!

December 18th -

This month of December has been a month of finalizing plans for 2010, get the calendars updated, the computer programs upgraded, reviewing the lessons learn in 2009...and yes, some dreaming of what we can do with some patterns and fabric and wool oh my!

My step father and his wife are coming this weekend to spend Christmas with us, and yes, there will be food in our refrigerator (thanks to Bread and Butter restaurant) and yes, we will even have presents wrapped under the tree soon! It has been an exhilarating this week watching all the beautiful quilts and projects you all have shared with us that are going away to be someones gift!

Thanksgiving should be ever day of the year...accept for the amount of food that I eat!

Good morning to all!

I do hope each of you had a great Thanksgiving and got to spend time reviewing your blessings in life! Our sermon last night at church was about giving thanks to God is everything all the time! It was a great reminder to me to make sure I have an attitude of gratefulness!

What is happening at The Lair this week?? Many fun things!!

Kay has been getting mighty creative these days and made this sample... it is from a new designer we are handling called Wednesday's Best --- she is primitive and fun! Kay is amazing in her ability to go from Primitive to the most detailed applique bom to tote bags! (maybe when I am 100 I will be able to do one of these well!!)

Then Darlene must have created a couple of more hours in her day and she made up a Simply Nine in the Jo Morton Collection of Stafford County and then a fun ABC quilt!! Both of these are kitted and ready for us to share!

Jo's Little Women Club #9 will start in February, it will be on the 2nd Tuesday of each month with Rheba and the 2nd Saturday with Chris Clardy. We are excited about the possibilities of what each person will create with all the wonderful lines Jo has had out (and with another new line coming in December! Yippee!!)

We also had the best time getting Janice Johnson of Wolly Woolen's booked for March - she is a rug hooking teacher and will be getting the final details down on what she is teaching! But we do know she is bringing Julie Kiffin with her and it is scheduled for March 18th - 20th! I brought back some of her patterns for you hookers out there! Also, Rita brought in some new patterns also this weekend!

Then we had the nicest email from Lynette Anderson and she is working on the cost and timing to come to Arkansas on her way to Spring Market! She is a wonderful fun, funky, primitive fabric designer, pattern designer and just plan fun girl! As she tells us more we will tell you more!

Wow! Was today beautiful or what! I am always amazed at how beautiful NWA can be this time of year! Clarice is home and she has us hopping!

Speaking of hopping! We got in the most delightful trunk show from Nutmeg Hare! It is sooooo cute! If you like primitive you will truly enjoy Nutmeg Hare designs!

The Amy Butler trunk show is here, the Count with Maisy fabric is in and mom will be back in the shop making sure we do it right!

Whew! What a great week it is here in NWA! Clarice (my mom) is coming home tomorrow! She is doing great after her knee replacement and is ready to get back to working with fabrics! She is going to love the new Amy Butler fabric!!

Chris Clardy's son is in need of a heart transplant... Chris is one of our wonderful teachers, customers, friend, and awesome Jesus Freak that inspires us each day! We are collecting for his fund and will have Chris put the funds into his account. Here is a photo from today's newspaper.
